finding roaches in the pot

Sublime – Garden Grove Lyrics

We took this trip to Garden Grove
It smelled like Lou-dog inside the van, oh yeah
This ain’t no funky reggae party, $5 at the door
It gets so real sometimes, who wrote my rhyme
I got the microwave, got the VCR
I got the deuce-deuce in the trunk of my car, oh yeah

If you only knew all the love that I found
It’s hard to keep my soul on the ground
You’re a fool, don’t fuck around with my dog
All that I can see I steal, I fill up my garage

Cause in my mind
Music from Jamaica, all the love that I found
Pull over there’s a reason why my soul’s unsound

It’s you
It’s that shit stuck under my shoe
It’s that smell inside the van
It’s my bed sheet covered with sand
Sitting through a shitty band
Getting dog shit on my hands
Getting hassled by the man

Waking up to an alarm
Sticking needles in your arm
Picking up trash on a freeway
Feeling depressed everyday
Leaving without making a sound
Picking my dog up at the pound
Living in a tweaker pad
Getting yelled at by my dad

Saying I’m happy when I’m not
Finding roaches in the pot
All these things I do
They’re waiting for you.

This is the official first song I used to test new subwoofers in my car back in the 90s.

Damn near blew out windows.

Everyone’s got a Lou Dog

“MADNESS” scratch sample through the end of the song is from “Five Nights of Bleeding” by Linton Kwesi Johnson” .. The scratching by RAS MG on this is supreme.

its a love/hate relationship with growing up in garden grove. Its a good city but also kind of sketchy with tons of drug addicts.

Brad was claiming for help in that song. I miss him a lot. Despite the sadness, it’s an amazing track and very well produced. Too sad that the heina took this life too eatly. This guy was special and unique. Miss him a lot

All These Things I Do.

You can truly hear how blissfully chilled the dopes got him in this track. Sad as fuck.

I have 6.2/10 cover of this song on my channel if you want to watch it

Sublime was one of my favourite bands growing up. Check out my cover of this song and let me know what you think.

I’m just waiting for people commenting on any old song “Who’s still here in 2020?”. Like no shit, of coarse people listen to music from several years ago. Most people actually have taste and don’t just listen to every new song that comes out.

Smelled like Lou-dog inside the van.

WHO ELSE HERE FROM GARDEN GROVE. GG 714 🤙🤙

I used to work in a sketchy neighborhood between Stanton and Garden Grove, right there on Beach Blvd and Garden Grove Blvd, close to the 22 Fwy entrance.. To me, this song describes many of the colorful characters you might meet there. people living in motels and halfway-houses, next to run-down liquor stores, massage parlors, weird Karaoke bars. I left California years ago, and I don’t know how things are looking over there now, but this song makes me miss it a lot. Sublime always kept it real!

I used to listen to this as a teenager and im 30 now and was a professional musician from 22 till now and all these things happened lol

I’m about to go to a Marie Callender’s in garden grove 🤘🏽 made me remember this song lol

Could really relate to being in Long Beach at that age! I just can’t believe how fast the time has gone by since ‘96 Like they say it seems like only yesterday. Lost a great talent!

It gets so real sometime, who wrote my rhyme
I got the microwave, i got the vcr

This always reminds me of my first mushroom trip in the bayou a few miles from my house. I was 14, took my dad’s truck out and picked up a friend. We went to a cow field by a school we knew of. The mushrooms had been sitting for awhile so they had plenty of psilocin in them. Got a Kroger bag half full and met up with 7 other friends. It was everybody’s best trip since then. I had life figured out for like 2 weeks after that lol

Ha man I needed that laugh . Thanks

Yep I’m here in 2020.. and it ain’t even 2020.. real shit.

Who’s still here in 2020

This song and some golden caps

God, I can go years without listing to this song and for some reason still remember all the lyrics

Yep. Happened to me just now.

I am, love their stuff got keep in the rotation. ✊🍄🕉🌲✌️

Just a belief of mine: the best five years of music in row of all time was from 1990 to 1995 and Sublime is a big reason for that

“Don’t fuck around with my dog”

Love Garden Grove song!

One of the best Sublime songs of any of their 3 albums ive owned. (40 oz, RTH and self titled)

Brad was a god damn genius

These sublime songs have a lot of views nowadays. I can remember when they just had under 1m views

Reminds me of loading up the dirtbikes at 715 on saturday am . getting the 110 octane out of the garage . looking for a bungie cord. then firing up a cig while i put on my ridin boots! I miss my teens and twentys!

1:50 got me when he said “everyday”

Loved his last concert. He was way chill in person. I have a signed picture of he and I.

It doesn’t matter what year you were here.
2019, or 2059. this music will still be classic.

Postin. Many years later.

This popped on Pandora and at first, I thought it was Coldest Rain by Diecast since they both start off the same.

Shout out NorCal for once upon a time I lived out there. and to the ppl who put me into all the great sublime music that don’t get radio play. U know who u are..

2019 09/09.. activo sublime,. Vzla

Three dead nymph cockroaches floating in water in a large pot with cabbage were among the reasons a health inspector shut down a vegetarian Chinese restaurant in Rowland Heights in December.

The discovery was made on Dec. 19 at Happy Family Restaurant, 18425 Colima Road No. 2F-B in Rowland Heights. In a report on file with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department, the inspector also made note of:

  • One live adult cockroach on the floor by the mechanical warewasher.
  • Three dead cockroaches on the floor by the mechanical wareawsher.
  • Two dead cockroaches on the floor by the mop sink.
  • One dead cockroach on the bottom shelf of the interior of the one-door reach-in cooler.
  • Three dead cockroaches on the floor by the rice cooker.
  • Two dead cockroaches on the floor behind the ice machine.
  • Two dead cockroaches on the floor below shelving in the small storage room.
  • One dead cockroach on the floor behind the chest reach-in freezer in the small storage room.
  • One dead cockroach on the floor in the women’s restroom.
  • Cockroach fecal marking in between the white wall and metal splash guard by the oven.

In addition, the inspector found fried taro and tofu balls being held at unsafe temperatures and an accumulation of debris in the coolers, freezers, ice machine and fryer. Employees disposed of 1.5 pounds of tofu balls and 30 pounds of cabbage. The restaurant was given a score of 71, was shut down and allowed to reopen on Dec. 21.

Facilities are graded with a number and letter score much like school report cards. If a food facility is closed for a cockroach, rodent or fly infestation, sewage problems or for not having any water running, the facility loses an additional seven points on top of the four points deducted for major health violations. Any time two major health hazards, such as unsafe food temperatures, are observed, the facility loses an additional three points in its inspection score.

Restaurants and markets whose permits are suspended must close until another inspection determines the problems have been fixed. Closures can occur during routine and owner-initiated inspections, complaint investigations and re-inspections.

Here are other food facilities that were temporarily closed between Dec. 15 and Dec. 28. Unless otherwise noted, the grades listed for the facilities were received on the same day they were closed.
