home depot thermal paste

Is thermal paste for a cpu found in homedepot?

Does anyone know if you can buy thermal paste (at homedepot) for the xbox 360 cpu and what kind of thermal should i get.

probably not, look for a radioshack, or even much overpriced “bestbuy”

Do not skip the thermal paste! Especially if you are building a gaming PC. I’m assuming you will be using at least a dual core and more likely a quad core, as well as a beefy graphics card and lots of extras. All these high end components generate lots of heat. The thermal paste is an absolute must.

Use Arctic Silver 5 – enough said.

i’ve heard elmers glu or toothpaste will work but the real stuff can be found at BB, Rshack, sometimes staples. not at home depot. I order mine from newegg.com

it’s best to get it from bestbuy or order it online

Replacing Thermal Paste

For various reasons, I’ve had to attach, remove, then reattach my cooling system numerous times to my processor. The pre-attached thermal paste layer has worn very thin. I don’t have any thermal paste handy and it would appear that no Radio Shacks near me does either.

You can’t check instore availability on their site? You could go look. It would obviously be in the electronics section.

Edit: Best Buy also has it instore as would Fry’s, Office Depot etc.

It’s not that bad. It’s at least the right idea. But I wouldn’t use it.

I just checked Wal-Mart’s website. Do they normally keep it in the store somewhere? All I’m seeing is that I can order it for delivery next Wednesday.

That’ll work. I’ll stop at Office Depot tomorrow. Thanks!

The description of “thermally conductive” and that picture of a massive tube just made me fear for the life of everything on the motherboard. But you’re right, at least it was on the right path.

Vemerce – If you don’t have the proper stuff, then I’d really wait till you can get some. I’m surprised Radio Shack didn’t have any AS5 in, they stock it at the ones out here. Hit up Amazon or Newegg and do a next day if you really need it fast.
