The Kush kingdom began to thrive.
1600-1100 B.C.E. (New Kingdom period)
Kush was comquered by Egypt, who’s power was greater than the Kushites’ at the moment. Under their control, Kush was forced to pay tributes to Egypt.
1100 B.C.E .
Kush regained their independence from Egypt’s control when Egypt’s New Kingdom period failed.
There were new Kush kings that still followed the Egyptian traditions.
mid 700 B.C.E.
Kush attacked Egypt when they were weak.
The Egyptians surrendered to King Piye, and they fell into Kush’s control. King Piye declareed himself as pharaoh and leader of both Egypt and Kush. Kush pharaohs ruled Egypt for almost a century.
Egypt/Kush was threatened by the Assyrians, their enemy from the Mesopotamia reign.
The Assyrians invaded Egypt, and with their iron tools, drove the Kush out of Egypt.
mid 650s B.C.E .
All of the last Kushites went out of Egypt and returned to Kush.
Egypt invaded Kush and destroyed Napata, the capital city. So, the Kushites made another capital city; Meroe. All the Kushites got rid of all the Egyptian roots and returned to their own.
Queen Amanirenas defended Kush against the Romans.
Rome signed a treaty with Kush after three years worth of fighting.
Kush was destroyed by invaders from Ethopia, another African colony.
