In-Game Description

A lump of something, obtainable from a Giant-tree.
Makes enemies react to invaders.

When the giants fell, they grew into great trees.
Death is not the end, for anything that has ever
once lived remains a part of a great cycle of
regeneration.

But what of those outside of the cycle?

Consumable item that causes all enemies in the area to attack invaders for a limited time (60 minutes).

Availability

  • Starting gift choice.
  • Harvested from the resting giant in the room next to the Soldier’s Rest bonfire, in Forest of Fallen Giants.
Has roughly a 25% chance of spawning every time the player is invaded by a Red Phantom: both real players and NPCs. 1

Farming

Invading NPC phantoms trigger the chance for a seed to spawn. This creates a farming opportunity that is much faster than waiting for random online invasions.

Scholar only: Extremely easy way to farm is to bonfire ascetic soldiers rest and run straight from the bonfire into the tree room. Armorer Dennis will spawn and you will see if you got a seed or not. If you did grab it and jump off the edge, if you didn’t jump off the edge again. He will infinitely respawn and you will see if you get a seed each time.

Armorer Dennis in Forest of the Fallen Giants (Scholar only)

This is the fastest method to farm seeds, but can only be done in Scholar of the First Sin, and requires you to die each time, but the entire process can be done in under 30 seconds (Depending on your load times), which includes the time to check and loot a seed, making it the fastest possible way to farm seeds.

  1. Keep Armorer Dennis in Forest of Fallen Giants alive by not defeating him.
  2. From the Soldiers’ Rest bonfire, head outside and towards the seed’s spawn point.
  3. Armorer Dennis will invade as you leave the bonfire room, spawning in the seed’s room.
  4. The seed will either spawn or not, either way loot if needed, then die (Fastest way is to run back outside and fall into a pit.
  5. Respawn back at the Soldiers’ Rest bonfire.
  6. Repeat.

Armorer Dennis/Fencer Sharron in Iron Keep (Scholar only)

This method requires Scholar of the First Sin, and to die.

  1. Keep Armorer Dennis and/or Fencer Sharron alive in Iron Keep by not defeating them.
  2. From the first bonfire, cross the bridge, and into the keep to spawn the invasion.
  3. Die.
  4. Repeat a few times, then head to the Soldiers’ Rest bonfire in Forest of Fallen Giants to check for the seed.

Rockshield Baldyr in Shulva, Sanctum City

This method requires you to die.

  1. Keep Rockshield Baldyr in Shulva, Sanctum City alive by not defeating him
  2. From the Priestess’ Chamber bonfire, run across the thin walkway to spawn the invasion.
  3. Die.
  4. Repeat a few times, then head to the Soldiers’ Rest bonfire in Forest of Fallen Giants to check for the seed.

Aslatiel of Mirrah in Aldia’s Keep

This method does not require you to die.

  1. Keep Aslatiel of Mirrah in Aldia’s Keep alive by not defeating him.
  2. From the Foregarden bonfire outside the keep, run into the keep’s first hallway to spawn the invasion.
  3. For DS2 – Run passed him into the main hall, and up the staircase, to cause Aslatiel to despawn. For SotFS – Run passed him into the main hall, and all the way up to the giant basilisk at the top, then head into the dragon switch room to cause Aslatiel to despawn.
  4. Warp or run back to the Foregarden bonfire.
  5. Repeat a few times, then head to the Soldiers’ Rest bonfire in Forest of Fallen Giants to check for the seed.

Seed of a Giant Tree – Dark Souls 3

Seed of a Giant Tree is a Consumable in Dark Souls 3.

Seed of a Giant Tree

The giant trees were also known as watcher trees, and their seeds unmask invaders.

When used effectively, these seeds will help counter dark spirits.

Seed of a Giant Tree Usage

  • Use to make enemies hostile towards invaders.
  • Also reacts to NPC invaders.
  • Especially effective against Londor Pale Shade and Knight Slayer Tsorig since they tends to invade areas with large amount of enemies nearby.
  • Drop at the crow nest to receive the Iron Leggings – the leg part of the Armor of the Sun Set

Seed of a Giant Tree Locations

  • Obtained from the dead giant-shaped tree at both Firelink Shrines in the Cemetery of Ash and Untended Graves. Look just before the Tower Door near the cliff.
  • 10% chance to spawn when invaded. Increases by 10% each time until maxing at 50%. Resets to 10% when obtained.

Notes

  • The tree can only have one seed waiting to be collected at a time, even if multiple invaders have been banished since you last checked the tree.
  • Players can hold 3 seeds at a time and store 600.
  • As of Regulation 1.33 App Version 1.13, Seeds now only last for 45 seconds, but their spawn rate has been increased
  • You can also no longer trade Seeds with other players. You can drop them, but no one else will be able to see them and pick them up.
  • As an invader, you can tell if the host has used a seed by the status effect icon (rather than waiting to see whether NPCs attack you)

As someone who does a lot of PVP, if I invade someone and they use this I get happy because I feel like not enough people use it and it changes up the dynamic of the fight to something that doesn’t happen often. Invaders who complain about this item just don’t know how to win a fight with out ganking or spamming spells. Don’t like it when fights are even now that mobs can also attack you as well as the host? Then Git Gud.

Ohhh noooo a seeeed *lazily rolls literally everything as I’ve done two successful no hit runs*

08 Nov 2020 13:35

Used it on some scumbag in the ringed city who kept running and he got eaten by the effigy fatties lol

27 Oct 2020 07:22

45 seconds?! Makes the damn things nearly useless..

16 Oct 2020 19:28

I nearly have 300 of these

13 Oct 2020 14:04

When the 3 or 4 man gank seeds

13 Oct 2020 13:59

Pretty sure the drop can be triggered from other events too. I recall having runs when it has just dropped me one even when I haven’t been invaded at all.

08 Oct 2020 23:07

Anyone else just come here for the salt?

07 Oct 2020 01:30

I think it was safe to get them with cheat engine, when they were tradeable. Does anybody know if it is still safe or will it result in a ban now, since they are not tradeable anymore? Not that I would do that, just curious.

17 Sep 2020 04:57

All is fair in love and war

15 Sep 2020 02:08

I wish you could trade this. 🙁
Invade as a Mound-Maker, cast Warmth near the host and then give them seeds to prove you are there just to help and kill invaders.

Execute Order 66

Man I think I ran into hacker, I waited in an area with no pve and waited like 15 minutes because he kept popping these smh hate hackers. Ended up just using the black crystal.

03 Aug 2020 08:12

okay, next time I’m on another ng+ I’ll just pop it in anor londo if invaders come while I’m still dealing with the drang gank duo.

what, you mad because you and your other aldrich faithfuls couldn’t 5 person gank me with the npcs?

02 Aug 2020 20:31

Invaders have the nerve to be salty, after literally “invading” your world? LOL

27 Jul 2020 21:51

OK OK I understand being upset at a host who uses this, but hear me out: I got my SL45 all the way to NG++ with only +4 weapons so when I get invaded they have to deal with NG++ enemies. It’s my build, bro!

25 Jul 2020 23:31

Invasion is not a duel, there is arena for 1v1. When you invade, you will use everything available trying to kill me then of course I will use everything available trying to kill you, simple as that. No one invited you to my world dude.

24 Jul 2020 19:06

Using seeds is a great way to demonstrate.
. the toxicity of this community- COMM – UN – IT – Y!

21 Jul 2020 22:41

I can get why people would be frustrated when a host uses this and they have a full set of phantoms but if they’re fighting you 1v1 and you run off it’s entirely fair game.

16 Jul 2020 23:31

It doesn’t work on hodrick for some reason. I got invaded be4 reaching the bonfire by the tree boss. So I teleported back to the main bonfire to get the seed and use it against him. It had no effect. Not even the giant archer noticed.

15 Jul 2020 00:01

You come to my world, my rules.
Want to fight? Ask nicely for it with an emote or get ganked.

10 Jul 2020 00:26

Disclaimer the seed only works for hostiles that are already in your world. If you invade after this is cast only the already established invaders will be susceptible to mob attacks. Happened a couple times invading as a mad phantom.

28 Jun 2020 05:33

If u use this in the ringed city I’m bringing Mr.Dragonslayer armor to you and your gank squad

21 Jun 2020 21:01

Who uses theese better give them pickle pee for solarie armor bracelts

17 Jun 2020 14:50

I mean, the second the host pops this I’m gonna kite the enemy to them. I’ve even got two vids of me doing this in anor londo :I
